Dresda Honda 900 1975

This bike is featured in "The Cafe Racer Phenomenon" by Alastair Walker (2009) - click here for details.

This bike was originally an MCN "Spot-the-ball" competition prize! Remember those grainy black & white photos of some weird moto-football game?

The Dresda really is a stunning piece of work. Built by Dave Degens (pictured on the bike in his driveway in 2006) in 1975, it was originally a K2 model, fitted with electronic ignition from Martek, CMA wheels and a rear Lockheed disc brake setup to replace the original drum. The carbs are jetted to suit the engine/exhaust setup and use K&N filters.
The frame is chrome plated and holds about 5 litres of oil. An oil cooler is also fitted.
The engine is reputed to be from an ex-endurance racing bike (but we have no proof of this)

The paint job was carried out by Dream Machine at the request of a previous owner and is rumoured to have cost £2K! Degens famously refers to it as a "1970's fairground paint job" in "Honda CB750" by Mick Duckworth, one of the Haynes Great Bikes series.

All-in-all: a unique bike.
